Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre strongly recommends all horses, ponies and donkeys should be fully vaccinated against equine influenza and tetanus.

The equine influenza vaccination significantly reduces the clinical effects and virus excretion following infection although it does not prevent an equine from contracting the virus.  The tetanus vaccination prevents devastating infection of the horse by the tetanus toxin found in our everyday environment.

For young equines that have not been previously vaccinated or any horse, pony or donkey that has missed their annual booster, a primary course will need to be started. Following the primary course annual boosters must be given to ensure continued protection.
