Wendover Heights is an Accredited Practice under the RCVS Practice Standards Scheme, a voluntary quality assurance scheme run by The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. All divisions of the practice, Small Animal, Equine and Farm Animals are accredited by this Scheme.
Knowing that you are bringing your animal to an RCVS Accredited Practice gives you that extra peace of mind regarding the quality of care being provided.
To achieve this status, the practice must pass a rigorous inspection that will be carried out by an experienced veterinary surgeon. Full inspections are carried out every four years, with the possibility of random spot checks in between; also, the practice itself needs to certify annually that it is continuing to meet the required standards which include:
- Meeting a range of legal and health and safety requirements for premises, equipment, clients and employees
- 24 hour emergency cover facilities (which Wendover Heights staffs with its own veterinary surgeons and nurses)
- Monitoring policies for treatment and inpatients
- An ongoing commitment to the continuation of professional development for staff
- Access to laboratory facilities for diagnostic testing
- Procedures for providing estimates of treatment costs and consent for treatment
- Procedures for communicating with clients and processing feedback
