pet insurance

Pet insurance is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) so it is covered by the same regulations afforded to all  types of insurance policy.  These regulations mean that we as a Practice are unable to advise directly on specific companies or policies.

We are able to offer you general advice on the concept and would certainly recommend exploring pet insurance.  Insurance policies are to help you with unexpected costs - they do not cover routine pet care such as vaccinations.   When taking on the responsibility of a pet, you should be confident that you are in a position to cover these costs.

Insurance policies vary greatly in what they cover and there is a huge range to choose from.  We recommend you always read all the associated terms and conditions.  There will be an excess to pay and some companies set the excess as a percentage of the total claim - so with a large claim there may be a substantial excess to pay.

Our Terms and Conditions at Wendover Heights Veterinary Centre specify that treatment is paid to us by our client at the time and then the relevant amount is then claimed back from the insurance company by the client.

There is an administration charge for  each claim form completed on your behalf by the practice.
