Collections for repeat prescriptions  can be made from either the main surgery at Halton or  from our Merrilaw branch surgery in Great Missenden - please state a preference when ordering your prescription.

You will appreciate, however, that the right to prescribe medicines is subject to strict regulations and we are therefore obliged to follow certain procedures when dispensing drugs:

• The animal must be under our care

• We need to see the animal periodically to review the condition and ensure that the drugs you are requesting are still appropriate and the dose is still correct - the frequency of these visits will depend on the individual case.

We do try to be as accommodating as possible in these circumstances but your co-operation in these matters is much appreciated.

We also stock a wide range of prescription diets for animals with prescribed special dietary needs - again, 24 - 48 hours’ notice is appreciated so that we can have your order ready for collection.

Please give as much information as possible regarding your requirements and specify which surgery you wish to collect from.  If you request the item(s) to be posted to you, additional charges for postage will be added to your account.  (Please note that the notice period will apply from the point we access the e-mail.  These are checked regularly, however, forms submitted later in the day may not be accessed until the following morning.  IF YOUR REQUEST IS URGENT, IT IS THEREFORE ADVISABLE TO CALL IN TO THE SURGERY OR TELEPHONE YOUR REQUEST THROUGH.

*As a large and busy practice we receive many requests every week for repeat prescriptions.  Preparing and dispensing these accurately and to comply with legislation involves vets, nurses and support staff.

We have always asked for a minimum of 24 hours’ notice before collection but often receive urgent requests for medication for a variety of reasons.  These requests often result in vets and nurses interrupting scheduled work to prepare these prescriptions.

We know that life can be complicated so we are introducing two additional levels of service from 1st December 2011.  These are ‘priority’ and ‘urgent’ prescriptions which, for a small additional fee, allow collection in as little as one hour from time you call.

Details are shown in the table above.  The standard service remains free but we hope the additional options will prove useful when you need medicines for your pet at a time most convenient to you.
